VOLUNTEERS

Our organization could not exist without volunteers. As a private, non-profit organization, we rely on the assistance of caring and hard-working volunteers in all of our programs. Working directly with the animals can increase their chances of adoption by providing additional human contact. Volunteers also help us inform the community of the goals and objectives of the Sevier Animal Care Center and promote responsible pet ownership.

                                                                               FIELD TRIP PROGRAM

How would you like to borrow one of our dogs for a few hours? Our Field Trip Program allows you to do just that.  You can come and check out an approved dog just like a library book and return them the same day. This program is perfect for folks who cannot adopt, but still want to have some tail waggin’ time. You may even run across someone on your adventure who would love to adopt your new friend. Never fear- your ‘go bag’ will be stocked with essentials such as water, poopy bags, and our shelter’s business cards. Simply direct those folks to us. Bonus points if you get some fabulous photos that we can use of the doggo enjoying their trip. SELFIES ANYONE?? Some key items to note:
  • Parks, dog friendly walking trials, restaurant patios, and Starbucks pup cup runs are only a few of the wonderful possibilities!
  • Dogs enjoy quality time, exercise and socialization outside of the shelter. They often come back happy and ready for a nap.
  • You’ll have a great time too! There is no commitment beyond simply spending time together and having fun.
  • Participants must be at least 18 years old, or accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Dogs must remain on leash, held by an adult, at all times.
  • We ask that you avoid dog parks as they can be overwhelming for many shelter pups.
  • It is recommended that the dog be kept separate from personal pets.
  • All you have to do is complete a volunteer application and waiver form, which can be done on site. Please bring a valid ID.
  • Dogs are available for pick up/drop off from 8-11:30 am and 1-4:30 pm.
You will be provided with a leash and other necessary supplies for your Field Trip!

Foster Program:
Sevier Animal Care Center utilizes foster homes to provide temporary housing for animals in need. This is an essential component of our mission to find permanent homes for all adoptable animals. Our foster families save lives by opening shelter space and providing animals with attention and care. Open your heart and home to an animal in need!
What types animals need foster care?
Orphaned puppies of kittens that need bottle-feeding.
Un-weaned puppies or kittens with their mother. -OR-
Puppies or kittens old enough to eat on their own but not ready to be spayed or neutered.
Pets with injury, recovery, or weight loss/gain challenges.
Pets awaiting rescue or transport.
Select animals that need time in home for socialization.
How it Works
Step 1:
All animals are examined by our shelter team and given tests, vaccines, de-wormer and flea treatments. The animal’s needs are evaluated.
Step 2: Foster families are informed of the animal’s need for foster care through our FB group for foster families and/or my phone.
Step 3:
The foster family picks up the foster animal(s) and supplies.
Step 4:
The foster animal brings their animal(s) to SACC as needed for examination and vaccines.
Step 5:
When the animal(s) ready for adoption, they will be placed on our adoption floor until a forever home is found.

    Foster Application:
Please be sure to submit both Application and Waiver
