Foster Program:
Sevier Animal Care Center utilizes foster homes to provide temporary housing for animals in need. This is an essential component of our mission to find permanent homes for all adoptable animals. Our foster families save lives by opening shelter space and providing animals with attention and care. Open your heart and home to an animal in need!
What types animals need foster care?
Orphaned puppies of kittens that need bottle-feeding.
Un-weaned puppies or kittens with their mother. -OR-
Puppies or kittens old enough to eat on their own but not ready to be spayed or neutered.
Pets with injury, recovery, or weight loss/gain challenges.
Pets awaiting rescue or transport.
Select animals that need time in home for socialization.
How it Works
Step 1:
All animals are examined by our shelter team and given tests, vaccines, de-wormer and flea treatments. The animal’s needs are evaluated.
Step 2: Foster families are informed of the animal’s need for foster care through our FB group for foster families and/or my phone.
Step 3:
The foster family picks up the foster animal(s) and supplies.
Step 4:
The foster animal brings their animal(s) to SACC as needed for examination and vaccines.
Step 5:
When the animal(s) ready for adoption, they will be placed on our adoption floor until a forever home is found.

    Foster Application:
Please be sure to submit both Application and Waiver

I understand that all foster animals belong to Sevier Animal Care Center (SACC) and I agree to return them upon request. While in my care, I agree to provide safe, secure, and clean housing, food in adequate amounts, clean water, and socialization for my fostered pet(s). In the event an animal becomes ill, I agree to notify SACC and return it immediately upon request. I understand any decision regarding treatment is at the discretion of SACC staff. I understand foster animals may not survive and further understand SACC cannot reimburse me for any expenses incurred while the animal is in my care. I understand that SACC will not be responsible for any damage to my property or pets that may result from fostering. I understand that the animals I am caring for may be dangerous, destructive, and have unpredictable behavior. I recognize that in handling animals, there exists a risk of injury including physical harm caused by the animals. I also recognize that I may come into physical contact with animals of unknown origin or questionable health history, and/or which have not been treated for diseases, which may be transmittable to humans or other companion animals. On behalf of myself, my heirs, personal representatives, and executors, I hereby release, discharge, indemnify, and hold harmless SACC, its officers, managers, and employees from any and all claims, cases of action, or demands, of any nature, based on damages or injuries which may be incurred or sustained by me in any way connected with my foster services for Sevier Animal Care Center, including but not limited to animal bites, accidents, or injuries. I will agree to report any such incidents, accidents, or injuries while fostering to SACC. I am about to participate in the Foster Care Program of SACC. I am doing so entirely upon my own initiative, risk, and responsibility. I understand that my services are provided strictly in a volunteer capacity, as a volunteer, and without any express and/or implied promise of compensation, employment benefits, worker’s compensation insurance, accrual in any form of vacation sick time, or other payment of any kind whatsoever. I understand that public relations are an important part of volunteering/fostering at SACC. I agree to allow SACC to use any photographs taken of me for use in public relations efforts.
